On July 1st, Canadians from coast to coast to coast will come together to commemorate the 150th birthday of our great nation. As we prepare for these celebrations, I am reminded of how lucky we are to be Canadian. We have a rich history, expansive natural and cultural heritage, strong values and sense of purpose, there’s so much to be proud of in calling Canada our home.

Can you put down in words what Canada means to you?

To celebrate our great nation’s 150th, I am hosting a writing contest open to residents of Chilliwack-Hope. Three lucky people will be selected to win a full-size, Canada 150 commemorative flag from the following age categories:

1. Jr. High (Grades 6-8)

2. High School (Grades 9-12)

3. Adults

To enter, please write a response to one or more of the following questions in 250-300 words:

What do you love most about Canada?

What makes you most proud to be Canadian?

What's the best thing about living in Canada?

Enter the contest here:  Be sure to include your full name, age, address, and a phone number. The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2017.

Good luck!
