Virtual Art Gallery – Angelika Young

To promote artists and photographers in Chilliwack and Hope, local Member of Parliament Mark Strahl has begun showcasing local art and photographs in his Ottawa office in a new monthly exhibit and is encouraging local artists and photographers from across the riding to submit their work.

The first artist to have their work displayed is local digital photographer Angelika Young. Growing up in Germany before moving to Hope, Angelika studied photography at Albrecht Dürer College in Dusseldorf and worked as a photographer in Switzerland and Europe. After immigrating to Canada, Angelika worked with ceramics before opening a picture framing store in Hope, BC. She later moved to Vancouver to study digital imaging.

To see more of Angelika’s work, or to contact her directly, visit her website (www.vision-art-422.ca).

In accordance with the artist’s wishes, works will be exhibited in the gallery for several weeks before being returned to the artist, donated to local charities, or presented as gifts to visiting delegations.  A new artist will be featured every month.

Fellow Parliamentarians, as well as visitors from across Canada and around the world, will have an opportunity to take in the works of the many talented artists in Chilliwack-Hope.

“Since putting out a call for submissions in March, I have received many high quality submissions from local artists, including impressive works such as Angelika’s. I am thrilled to be able to showcase the incredibly talented artists we have in Chilliwack-Hope,” said MP Mark Strahl. “I encourage local artists to continue to submit their work for display, and look forward to highlighting more artists in the future”.

Those interested in this opportunity are asked to contact Mr. Strahl’s office for more information at 604-847-9711 or mark.strahl@parl.gc.ca.
