Prime Minister Stephen Harper Highlights Opportunties Created By the Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today joined community and senior business leaders from Canadian companies for a roundtable to discuss how the Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement will significantly boost trade and investment ties between our two countries, creating jobs and opportunities. The session was hosted by Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade.
Chilliwack- Funding of over $2.1 million for state of the art training equipment for the Agriculture Centre of Excellence at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) in Chilliwack was announced today by the Minister of State for Western Diversification, the Honourable Michelle Rempel.
Chilliwack- Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon MP Mark Strahl announced that the federal government was seeking ideas on how to improve the prescribing practices of drugs that have a high risk of abuse or addiction.
"Prescription drugs are now the most commonly abused substance by youth after alcohol and marijuana. To curb this growing problem, we need to raise awareness of the risks and dangers associated with their abuse," said Strahl.
Chilliwack- Mark Strahl, MP for Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon is encouraging area residents to have their say on the Government of Canada's proposed changes to Nutrition Facts Table located on prepackaged foods.
"By making the nutrition labels easier to understand we're helping moms and dads make good choices about the foods they buy and prepare for their families," said Strahl.
Chilliwack- On behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities, and Intergovernmental Affairs, Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon MP Mark Strahl announced that the first installment of the federal Gas Tax Fund (GTF) for 2014 is being made available to support local infrastructure priorities.
Chilliwack- On behalf of the Honourable Candice Bergen, Minister of State (Social Development), MP Mark Strahl is encouraging local organizations to apply for funding under the Enabling Accessibility Fund (EAF) to improve accessibility in community facilities for Canadians with disabilities.
"Through the Enabling Accessibility Fund, our Government is helping remove the barriers that prevent Canadians with disabilities from participating fully in their communities and workplaces," said Strahl.
Chilliwack- On behalf of the Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, Mark Strahl MP for Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon is encouraging local groups to make application for funding under the third phase of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) Recreational Fisheries Conservation Partnerships Program (RFCPP).
Chilliwack- Mark Strahl, MP for Chilliwack Fraser Canyon announced funding of $46,650 for Fraser Valley Watersheds Coalition for the restoration of the Hopedale Floodplain. The local project is among 85 projects under the EcoAction Community Funding Program announced by Minister of Environment, the Honourable Leona Aglukkaq.
