New Horizons for Seniors Program


Ottawa- Mark Stahl, MP for Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon highlighted, Minister of Seniors, Honourable Alice Wong's announcement that proposals for the New Horizons Seniors Program are being accepted from May 29, 2015 to July 10, 2105, to help counter social isolation in Canadian seniors.

"No Canadian should feel isolated, especially our seniors whose contributions are so valuable to our communities," said Strahl.

Strahl honours World War II Veterans in the House of Commons


Ottawa- Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon MP, Mark Strahl, stood in the House of Commons today to honour Veterans of the Second World War.

"Mr. Speaker, last month, it was my great privilege to travel around my riding of Chilliwack—Fraser Canyon to honour our living World War Two veterans with a victory pin and certificate issued by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Veterans Affairs to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Canada's entry into the war.

Extension of the Order of the Legion of Honour


Ottawa- Mark Strahl, MP for Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon highlighted Veterans Affairs Minister Erin O'Toole's announcement that the Government of France has agreed to extend the deadline to receive the Order of the Legion of Honour, to veterans who served at the landing in Normandy and Provence during the Second World War.

Strahl announces funds to attract foreign investment in local economy


Ottawa- Mark Strahl, Member of Parliament for Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon, on behalf of the Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade, today announced that Chilliwack Economic Partners will receive $10,000 through the Government of Canada's "Invest Canada - Community Initiatives" (ICCI) program to help them attract foreign investment and create jobs locally.

National standards being set for service dogs


Ottawa- Mark Stahl, MP for Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon highlighted Veterans Affairs Minister Erin O'Toole's announcement to support Veterans with mental health conditions by setting national standards for the service dogs that assist them.

"For veterans who live with mental health conditions, like PTSD, service dogs are often a necessary part of the healing process. We want these veterans to have the best support our country can offer them," said Strahl.

Enhancements to be made to Compassionate Care Benefits

World War II Veterans honoured in Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon


Chilliwack- At ceremonies held at Legions in Pemberton, Lillooet, Hope and Chilliwack, Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon MP, Mark Strahl presented 25 World War II Veterans with a limited-edition commemorative pin and certificate in recognition of their service and in honour of the 75 anniversary of Canada's engagement in the Second World War.

Applications now being accepted for Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program


Ottawa- Mark Strahl, MP for Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon announced today that applications are now being accepted for the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program.

The program will invest $150 million over two years to support projects that rehabilitate existing community facilities across Canada in celebration of the 150th anniversary of confederation.

Canada Summer Jobs funding to create employment for local youth


Ottawa- On behalf of the Honourable Pierre Poilievre, Minister of Employment and Social Development, Mark Strahl MP for Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon announced Canada Summer Jobs funding of $313,405 to create 74 summer jobs for local area youth.

"Through Canada Summer Jobs, students develop skills and gain valuable real life experience to prepare them for the workforce benefiting not only the students but local employers and the economy as well," said Strahl.
