Industry Minister James Moore today announced that the Government of Canada and the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) have reached an agreement that will help emergency responders from Canada, including police officers, firefighters and paramedics, do critical work to enhance the safety of citizens living along the Canada¿U.S. border. Public safety officials from Canada will be able to use their radios in border areas in the U.S. and vice versa.

The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport, today launched the Government of Canada's safety awareness campaign for unmanned air vehicles (UAVs), or drones. The national campaign will help ensure UAV users-both recreational and commercial-understand the rules of the skies and always think safety first.

When I was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development last September, I received a number of kind notes and letters congratulating me on my appointment. One note that I won't soon forget said "Aboriginal Affairs is a tough portfolio, but your Dad always used to say 'focus on the possible.' Good luck!"

It was, as it often is from that source, very good advice.

Federal funds to attract international investment in Chilliwack

Government of Canada announces funding for the Chilliwack Arts and Cultural Centre Society

April 15, 2014 – Chilliwack, British Columbia – Department of Canadian Heritage

Multi-year funding of $20,000 will support the Chilliwack Cultural Centre’s 2014 and 2015 performing arts series. The Centre will receive $10,000 in 2014–2015 and $10,000 in 2015–2016 through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund.

Ottawa- Victims of crime will have enforceable rights in Canada's criminal justice system thanks to legislation introduced today to implement a Canadian Victims Bill of Rights, says Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon MP, Mark Strahl.

"This transformative bill ensures victims are at the heart of our justice system." Strahl added, "I'm very proud that our Government has listened to the concerns of victims and taken action to give them a stronger voice in our justice system."

Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement to boost B.C. economy

Chilliwack- Forestry and value-added wood products; fish and seafood; agricultural and agrifood products are among the British Columbian industries to benefit from a free trade agreement with South Korea according to Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon MP, Mark Strahl.

"Preferred access to the dynamic and growing economy of South Korea will create jobs and economic opportunities for British Columbians in every region of the province," said Strahl.
