New Year brings new tax savings

Chilliwack- Mark Strahl, MP for Chilliwack Fraser Canyon wants you to know that the New Year brings new tax relief as the contribution limit for Tax Free Savings Accounts (TFSA) grows to $5,500.
"TFSAs are proving to be a popular means for middle class Canadian families to save for their future." Strahl added, "With the new increased contribution limit Canadians will be able to save even more money tax free."
Canada, BC partner to provide Chilliwack flood mitigation
CHILLIWACK – The governments of Canada and British Columbia will partner to support upgrades to Chilliwack's East Dike that will increase flood protection to more than 40,000 people residing in the floodplain.
No more grow-it-at-home medicinal marihuana

Chilliwack- At an announcement on Sunday December 16, attended by Mark Strahl, MP for Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon, Minister of Health, the Honourable Leona Aglukkaq stated the Government's intention to phase out in-home marihuana growth operations.
"The Government is acting on concerns by law enforcement, fire officials and property owners with regards to the dangers marihuana growth operations pose to health and human safety," said Strahl.
Strahl named Chair of BC/Yukon Caucus

Ottawa- Prime Minister Stephen Harper has named Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon MP, Mark Strahl Chair of the BC/Yukon caucus, effective immediately.
"I feel honoured and humbled to have been asked by the Prime Minister to take over this important role," said Strahl. "As a proud British Columbian, I look forward to taking the concerns of my BC/Yukon colleagues, our constituents and regional stakeholders to the Prime Minister and our national caucus colleagues."
Annual federal pre-budget consultations underway

Ottawa- Mark Strahl, MP for Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon is encouraging concerned citizens to participate in the annual pre-budget consultation process now underway.
"The Conservative Government wants to hear from Canadians on how to keep Canada growing in this challenging global economy." Strahl added, "While our Economic Action Plan has helped the economy create over 880,000 new jobs we can't afford to become complacent."
Taking action on violence against women

Ottawa- On the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women, Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon MP, Mark Strahl called on all constituents to work together to end violence against women.
"Everyone can play a role in eliminating violence against women and girls." Strahl added, "We can all speak out on emerging forms of violence, such as so-called honour-based violence and human trafficking."
