Ottawa- On Tuesday November 12 at 7:00 PM local residents will have an opportunity to participate in a telephone town hall meeting with Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon MP, Mark Strahl.

"It is very important to me that I hear from everyone. In a riding this large a telephone town hall meeting gives everyone an opportunity to have their say regardless of where they live," said Strahl.

Ottawa- Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon MP, Mark Strahl hailed today’s announcement that Canada had reached an agreement in principle on a Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) with the European Union (EU).

“This is great news for workers and families in Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon. Increased trade will allow businesses to hire more workers and provide consumers with greater choices and lower prices,” said Strahl.

Chilliwack-Mark Strahl, MP for Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon welcomed the news that local First Nations: Cheam, Scowlitz, Soowahlie, Boothroyd, Chawathil and Skuppah, are among the 28 new entrants to the First Nations Land Management Regime (FNLMR).

"Being added to the FNLM regime gives local First Nations greater control over their lands, their economy and their future," said Strahl. "Congratulations to our local First Nations who were added on this significant achievement."

Chilliwack- Prime Minister Stephen Harper has named Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon MP, Mark Strahl Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development.

"I feel honoured to have been asked to take on this new responsibility. I look forward to supporting Minister Valcourt in helping build healthier, more prosperous and self-sufficient First Nation communities," said Strahl.

Federal funding for local fish conservation projects

Chilliwack –On behalf of the Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon MP Mark Strahl today announced that, through the newly established Recreational Fisheries Conservation Partnerships Program, the Government of Canada is partnering with Ducks Unlimited and the Pacific Salmon Foundation to fund a number of local fish habitat conservation projects.
