Ottawa- On behalf of the Minister of Transport, the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon MP Mark Strahl announced that the Government of Canada is providing $68,450 for the addition of constant warning time devices at the Young Street railway crossing in Chilliwack.
The device measures train speed and distance, predicting the arrival of the train at the crossing allowing for a relatively uniform warning time to public traffic.
When I was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development last September, I received a number of kind notes and letters congratulating me on my appointment. One note that I won't soon forget said "Aboriginal Affairs is a tough portfolio, but your Dad always used to say 'focus on the possible.' Good luck!"
It was, as it often is from that source, very good advice.
Chilliwack – Mark Strahl, MP for Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon, on behalf of the Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade, today announced that Chilliwack Economic Partners Corporation will receive $20,000 from the Government of Canada to attract, retain and expand foreign direct investment.

Multi-year funding of $20,000 will support the Chilliwack Cultural Centre’s 2014 and 2015 performing arts series. The Centre will receive $10,000 in 2014–2015 and $10,000 in 2015–2016 through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund.

Ottawa- Victims of crime will have enforceable rights in Canada's criminal justice system thanks to legislation introduced today to implement a Canadian Victims Bill of Rights, says Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon MP, Mark Strahl.
"This transformative bill ensures victims are at the heart of our justice system." Strahl added, "I'm very proud that our Government has listened to the concerns of victims and taken action to give them a stronger voice in our justice system."
