Strahl Congratulates Andrew Scheer, Newly Elected Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada

OTTAWA – On Saturday May 27, the Conservative Party of Canada elected Andrew Scheer as its new leader. Mark Strahl, MP for Chilliwack-Hope extends his sincere congratulations to Andrew Scheer, the newly elected Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and Leader of the Official Opposition. In response to Andrew Scheer’s unifying victory, MP Strahl released the following statement:

“I am so proud of my friend Andrew Scheer for winning the Conservative Party of Canada leadership race. I was on his team from Day 1 and was proud of him every single day of the campaign.”

“Evidently, the local Conservative Party membership in Chilliwack--Hope was with him as well, with his strongest support in the entire province, by a long shot, coming from our riding with 52% first ballot support and over 81% support on the final ballot.”

“Andrew is a principled, pragmatic Conservative who will keep the party united and growing strong towards 2019. Those who know Andrew the best like him the most. He is ready to take on Trudeau now and will only grow stronger the more Canadians get to know him.”

“Thank you to Andrew’s wife Jillian Scheer and their five children for sharing Andrew with our movement. We will always be here to support you and your family in the good times and the tough ones too.”

“Andrew won because he believes there is a place in the Conservative Party for every type of Conservative. He won because he supports family friendly policies. He won because he supports hard working Canadian farm families. He won because he lives his values and isn't afraid to communicate them to Canadians. And that's why he'll be the next Prime Minister of Canada.”
